
Carl Wilhelm Goetzloff, A Balcony on the Gulf of Naples, 1826; he was a painter from Dresden who settled in Naples, and painted Italian scenes which are mostly none too memorable; but this is exquisite, clearly and freshly observed in the manner of the best German studies from the Romantic period. A nice cluster of ancient Greek vases in the foreground.
