Albert de Belleroche (1864-1944), Mrs Milbank, lithographs

Despite his exotic name, Belleroche was of British birth as a son of a Huguenot of noble descent, the Marquis de Belleroche, and he was born in Swansea. These lithographs show his mother, who separated from her first husband and then married Harry Vane Milbank, living with him in Paris. A Belle Epoque high society artist who was comparable in mmnay ways to Jacques-Emile Blanche and Paul Helleu, he is best remembered for his lithographs of women, which can be very fine.
