William Leighton Leitch, Ulm Cathedral, 1853

Born in Glasgow, Leitch was drawing-master to Queen Victoria and other members of the British royal family, including Queen Alexandra. I became interesetd him because on acquiring a volume of a German historical journal, the Bonner Geschichtsblätter, for quite different reasons, I found an article in it showing many of his really beautiful architectural drawings made in the Rhine valley. So I had a look on Ebay to see if any of his work was being offered there, and found this coming up for auction at a very reasonable price. Sorry for the poor quality of the image, which is a bit out of focus.
