Some Italian landscapes from the mid-19th Century

Raffaello Sernesi, Castiglioncello, 1862.

Odoardo Borrani, Haystacks in the region of Castiglioncello, 1862; it looks as if he and Sernesi went off together on a painting-trip that year.

Giovanni Costa, Il fiume morto, 1859.

Silvestro Lega, Landscape with peasants, 1870s; the best of the four as one would expect, he had such a sensitive eye for colour.
