Théodore Chassériau, three portrait drawings

His brother Ernest

Tocqueville.

Young woman in a cloak and bonnet.

Chassériau's portrait drawings are rather like those of Ingres, but softer and gentler (and also without the creepiness, if one may so express it - I find it difficult to relate to most of Ingres' sitters as human beings, all is concentrated on the cold perfection of the sinuous outlines).
